Description

We found a post on Lidl's FaceBook page from a man named Berra Dahlberg, one of many Lidl disbelievers in Sweden. He wrote:

"Lidl is German shit".

So we invited him for a "meaty"dinner", and if he didn't like it we would pay him €10.000. Naturally he thought it was an easy earn. We had a chef prepare a 6 course dinner, only using food from Lidl. During the dinner Berra had all the money in front of him in cash.

But what we "forgot" to mention was that we flew in a Lie Detector from the USA. And a Polygraph expert that work for the FBI.

So when Berra finished his meal, to his surprise, the Lie Detector and the expert appeared. After more than two hours of control questions he got the € 10.000 question: Did you like the meat?

Execution

The dinner was set up at the Grand Hotel in Stockholm. Just Berra in a big room, with the money in cash in front of him. He was taken care of a "celebrity chef" and being served the dinner. Then to his surprise he was encountered with the Polygraph Expert and had to go through a lie detector test. The full test took up, including control questions took longer than 2 hours.

A film of the whole "experiment/prank" was then put up on Lidl's Facebook. And pushed on TV.

Outcome

In just a few days more than 500.000 watch the video of the "experiment" with Berra on Lidls Facebook. With its glimpse in the eye approach it immediately spark the debate winning over lots of people to the side of Lidl.

When the campaign was over the overall meat sales increase landed on 14,8%, compared to same period 2014.

Berra obviously liked the food and the meat. And even the prank we made him go through. He is now a big fan of Lidl and a regular customer in his local Lidl.
