Background

In the world of sports, women consistently achieve records, win medals and trophies, score awe-inspiring goals, and deliver spectacular performances.

Despite these triumphs, the glaring underrepresentation still persists.

One great example of this, is how media and Turkey has treated its national women's volleyball team the so called "Sultans of the net".

Despite all of the team's achievements, there is still a part of people that treats these girls with disrespect, not giving them the attention they deserve.

We were asked to create an Integrated campaign that will inspire and motivate young girls into joining sports and raise awareness about gender equality, using the Sultans of the Net at its core.

Campaign idea

According to Unesco's research "Gender Equality in Sports Media", women's sports receive only 4% of all sports media coverage.

So, how can young girls get inspired by someone they don't get to see?

That's where we come to give a solution.

We have split our campaign into 3 phases.

The first phase is all about addressing the problem of the lack of media representation of women. We do so by placing billboards with powerful visual and message in places where young girls are found the most. An adaptation of this billboard will be published on Social Media.

The second phase consists of multiple activations in both the physical and the digital world. The same billboard is finally filled with a visual and an inspiring message. We take advantage of our sponsors and we suggest new collaborations.

In the third phase we utilize the opportunity of the biggest sports event in the world, the Olympic Games. We pair up with Vodafone to create a brand new channel that promotes women's sports. Then we utilize all of Vodafone's airtime in promoting this channel, giving the viewers free subscriptions. The energy will further amplify physically in Paris during the games.
