Background

Create an integrated campaign using the Turkish women's volleyball team to increase the participation of young girls and women in sport and raise awareness of the gender-based adversity they face on a daily basis.

Campaign idea

Half of girls give up sport at the age of 13: they’re three times more likely to quit sports at this age then boy, impacting their health, development and life beyond. With 70% of girls reporting to see themselves as sporty, it seems that they’re quitting because of things off the court.

Two days ahead of their biggest competition – the 2024 Olympics - the captain of the Turkish team will announce that team is retiring. But they’re not quitting from the sport: they’re retiring from the negativity, the prejudice, the self doubt. They’re quitting from caring about everything that holds them – and women like them – back from glory.

Our campaign urges young girls to do the same by reflecting their experiences and showing them that they're not alone. We're gaining their attention by targeting the people they spend the most time with - parents, teachers and coaches.
