Background

The 2024 brief was to create an integrated campaign with the Turkish women’s national volleyball team at its core. The main objective of the brief was to invite young girls to participate more in sports. The brief called for a minimum of 3 channels to integrate the campaign, with the targeted group being young girls and teens.

Campaign idea

Most young girls give up sports thinking it’s not worth it, thinking they will never achieve success. With the Turkish women’s national volleyball team, the campaign Portraits of the Future blends the past, present and future with the goal of encouraging young girls to pursue their dreams. Launched at the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games, Portraits of the Future alters the appearance of current Sultans of the Net players, so they appear as young girls, already in the mindset of a champion. Throughout the games, the viewers were able to view the live matches with the players shown as their younger selves, using AR filters. To close the campaign, each player has written a letter to their younger self, to be distributed in schools and across social media. The goal of the campaign was to encourage young girls to keep going towards their goals, by showing that professional athletes were also once in their shoes.
