Overview

Background

We are tasked with creating an inspirational, integrated campaign centered around the Turkish women's volleyball team, 'Sultans of the Net'. The campaign aims to increase women’s participation in sports, targeting young girls and teens, to inspire and encourage equal participation in sports, leadership, and all aspects of life. The 'Sultans of the Net' symbolise women's empowerment, gender equality, and success, serving as role models for the next generation. The team's global recognition and success against societal stereotypes and gender biases are key to this campaign. The campaign should raise awareness about gender equality and contribute to ending gender discrimination. The tone should be empowering, encouraging, challenging and positive, reflecting the strength and determination of women. The campaign should celebrate women's potential and leadership abilities.

Campaign idea

The campaign, 'Take It To The Court’ uses the journey of the 'Sultans of the Net' as an inspiration to increase women's participation in sports. The first phase involves a PR stunt where the Sultans play a seemingly random friendly volleyball match in front of the Turkish Parliament, a symbol of their discrimination. The event will be filmed and shared on social media platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube. The reason behind the match will be revealed as well.

The second phase introduces a social media challenge, #TakeItToTheCourt, encouraging other women’s teams, and girls all over Europe, to play sports in places where they faced discrimination. The campaign shifts the focus of sports from health and competition to equality, self-expression, and peaceful protest against injustice.

In special activations of the campaign girls can leave a physical mark with stickers at places where they played, signifying past injustices. Finally, the campaign will leverage major sporting events in Europe, the Euros 2024 and the Summer Olympics, to expand its reach and raise awareness for gender inequality.
