BriefExplanation
We open on a title card: “78 percent of all elected officials in the U.S. are men. The following is based on one of their opinions.”
We cut to a young schoolgirl playing soccer with a group of boys. She’s having fun. After she scores a goal, we hear a whistle blow. A male teacher calls her over. He chastises her for being sweaty and dirty, which is not how a lady should be. When she protests, he interrupts and tells her that she has to act like a lady to be treated like one.
We cut to a real politician’s quote, which is quoted verbatim in the film, then conclude with a sobering reminder: Politicians have the power to turn their opinions into reality, and if you don’t run for office or vote, people like him could end up writing the rules.
EntrySummary
