23 June 2023 / Host: Cannes Lions / Stage: Debussy Theatre

Spike Lee is an Academy Award-winning filmmaker whose body of work has left an indelible mark on the film and television industry. And this year at Cannes Lions, Lee will receive the Festival's inaugural Creative Maker of the Year award. When the Festival was founded in 1954, the original Lion was created to recognise world-class creativity in TV and Cinema advertising. Seventy years later, this award honours that heritage, and will celebrate an increasingly broad mix of creative makers who will bring ideas to life in the future. The legendary filmmaker, screenwriter, actor and producer will share his creative journey exclusively on stage on Friday 23 June. Lee will deliver a keynote fireside chat, alongside filmmaker and director, Barry Alexander Brown.
