Background

France is currently experiencing difficult times due to social contestation and cultural divisions. In this context, for its 100 years in France, Coca-Cola decided to promote a message of unity, by reminding French their history and celebrating the proudest moments of the last century.

With this film, the brand celebrates French people’s ability to look beyond their differences when they need to come together and unite; in moments of celebration as well as protestation. The film focuses on the major historic gatherings from the liberation of Paris in 1944, the student riots in May 1968, the first Gay Prides marches in the 80’s to the victory in the 1998 World Cup. The film ending opens up to one of the next big challenges the French society will have to face together, by talking about the topic of migrant refugees.

Execution

Coca-Cola desired to be seen as a brand that shares common values and memory with the French people, after 100 years spent at their side.

This campaign is a declaration of love to French people, with a specific cultural and historic narrative thread. This is also the first time since more than 10 years that the brand has made a specific film for the French market.
