Description
The actors voice stresses the "rr", as that is widely recognised in Portugal as a mark of french accent and some words were exchange for their french counterpart as the meaning in portuguese would be well understood. Also, there's a perception of french people as being somewhat snob and high-brow, which was infused in the voice acting.
Execution
Based on real stereotypes
[Didier]: I worked as pausigraphy director in film for 50 years. My job was... to ensure that our films had the necessary pauses... the depth... to allow people... to ponder and dive... the labyrinths of their existence.
Naturally, it is important for me to breed a certain... slowness into my life.
Everything in its own time, with calm, with pauses, so that the NOTHINGNESS can bloom and be contemplated.
Mankind has always been in one hell of a rush.
Everything... Everything happens too fast.
But in film... I could be myself and make the beauty and melancholy of each moment last! Wonderful! I'm sorry... did I speak too fast?
Now they want movement. Narrative. Entertainment. Bah! People have a need to actually understand the film.
It wasn't cinema that let me go. I let go of cinema.
