Execution

The 96 Elephants campaign included print, broadcast, radio and out of home executions created to drive awareness and website visits to 96Elephants.org in order to rally public support and get the word out about the elephant crisis.

We placed full page ads in national publications, ran national radio and digital advertising, and took over Times Square with massive billboards. Six-time Tony award winner, Audra McDonald, starred in a PSA in Times Square. 96 Elephants created a video parody in order to urge Antiques Roadshow to stop appraising ivory on-air and were successful in pressuring the program to change its policy.

Outcome

Working with almost 1000 media partners we delivered $3.5MM in donated media, and more than 188MM impressions.

We drove 500,000 actions across 50 states and 194 countries, 450,000+ constituent actions, and 672,000 emails to legislators. The campaign has raised $1,436,400 directly for four key sites in Africa and WCS has raised an additional $5,242,399 designated for elephant protection last year.

A federal account to combat wildlife poaching of $45 million was announced, and the USFWS and the Department of the Interior are crafting regulations to implement a near-complete ban on the commercial ivory trade in the U.S.
