Background
IGA is one of the largest grocers in Quebec, Canada. They’ve been showing animated commercials for the past 8 years. This Christmas, they created a two-minute animated film that premiered online, with $1 for each Facebook share being donated to La Tablée des chefs, a charity that helps people in need and teaches underprivileged youth how to cook. The film was shared more than 80,000 times and viewed by 3.5 million people on IGA’s social platforms (Quebec population: 8.3 million).
Execution
In Quebec, it’s well known that IGA grocers support the charity La Tablée des chefs. This year, they decided to push the collaboration further with a Christmas campaign whose purpose was to give people a taste for cooking while raising money for La Tablée. Also, to show how much they cared, IGA’s employees even sang the melody used for the movie: the Quebec classic Le Sentier de neige, which is even more popular in Quebec than Elvis’s own White Christmas.
