Description
Dental replacement costs can easily reach several thousand Euros and more. What most people don't know: Dental costs are freely negotiable in Germany. For this purpose, ERGO Direkt, Germany's leading direct insurer, invented a free portal matching patients with dentists in their region, offering their services for less. To make people aware of this free service, we decided on a nationwide campaign centered around a short film emotionalizing the core problem: A young man who has lost his smile, because he can't afford the high costs of dental surgery.
Execution
Casting was the most crucial element of the film. Since we were telling a story about a man who lost his smile, we needed to find somebody who was able to convincingly play this role. Unfortunately, several rounds of casting calls did not bring the desired results. Either the actors looked rediculous or too pathetic to appear credible. Then finally we found the perfect actor who eventually carried all the emotions in the film. Finding the supporting cast was also quite a challenge, since we where looking for whimsical characters supporting the leading role. In the end, we were able to shoot a film carried entirely by its cast.
