Ogilvy was setting up a hub to create global advertising for Lenovo. For which we needed to hire 60 of the finest creative and servicing talent in Bangalore. (That’s about the total size of the average advertising agency in Bangalore.) These people were not looking to move to another agency, which made our task all the more difficult.
Execution
The response was bigger than expected. We received flattering text messages, phone calls, free media coverage and enough word-of-mouth for the entire city to know we were recruiting. Some people were annoyed we’d sent them Ogilvy cards (carrying their name) right to their agency. Some complained to their bosses, who in turn complained to ours. Some were upset they weren’t sent cards. But best of all, the vacancies were filled.
