The users were activated on the Lufthansa onboard magazine with the following question: “Which of the German national players is also known as the “Titan”?” As the nation was taken over with football fever, everyone knew who it was! Customers texted in their answers to a short number, a well known mechanic, and would instantly receive a WAP-push link. Once clicked upon, the link would lead them to the mobile site where the fun really started!
Outcome
No matter their destination, visitors from over 55 countries worldwide experienced the 2006 FIFA Football World Cup on the Lufthansa mobile site. Every WAP-push link sent out was clicked upon twice, making the target group not only WAP professionals, but Soccer experts!
