Description

The task was to promote Alan Carr's new series - Alan Carr Chatty Man. We needed a simple, impactful device that would instantly highlight our star's credentials as the ultimate talk show host. It needed to showcase Carr's unique style and in doing so set the show apart from others in the sector. We had limited access to our star and no access to any of the people he was going to interview - so a realistic studio based promo was out of the question. We imagined that Alan had in fact been chatty all his life - even as a very young child. We wondered how his home movies may have looked, featuring the young star rabbitting away about anything and everything and the line Born Chatty emerged. Alan had to look like a baby but still look like Alan, this was a complex and ambitious problem to resolve, in doing so we created a spot which really achieved its objective and drew viewers to Alan’s programme. While the production was fairly involved, the end result feels simple and low fi - just like it was produced by Alan's mum in an old camcorder.
