OVERVIEW

Execution

Unified experience everywhere– we wanted to create an intuitive user interface where users know exactly what is expected of them, but also an experience that is consistent across multiple platforms e.g. smartphones, tablets, PCs etc. The flexibility of the platform’s solution and core functionality enables expansion in the future for adding new platforms such as connected devices, game consoles, IPTVs etc.

It's all about real time– In trying to get more people to watch live TV, we wanted to offer an interactive mechanic that users can participate with alongside the live broadcast, therefore the interface has to reflect changes in the live broadcast in real time. For example, elimination of a contestant during the show, dynamic open/close of vote windows etc. Again, the flexibility of the platform enables the future implementation of more interactive, play along mechanics that already engaged users/voters can interact with live.

Personalization at scale– The key to the SuperVote mechanic is that it requires tracking of user's behavior (vote reservation and vote submission) in real time so the user knows that every vote that is allocated and submitted is in fact captured and successfully counted. The SuperVote solution tracks tens of thousands of simultaneous users with the highest standards of accuracy and auditability. In real time!

User experience vs. security– The security of any online activity is a challenge, and when the subject of the activity is one of the highest rated shows in the world with a high value prize and a great deal of visibility, the challenge is even greater. Protecting the integrity of the application, while offering a flawless and engaging user experience, is a challenge that is constantly being evaluated and refined. SuperVote offers an ideal user experience, while employing the highest standards of security, ensuring the integrity of the vote result.

Outcome

With SuperVote, we were looking to create a streamlined, fresh and secure way for the audience to cast their online vote. Gone are the days of submitting one vote at a time per contestant and entering painful captcha codes every time. With SuperVote, we made what was once time consuming and frustrating into the easiest way to vote for multiple contestants all at once, with a one-time captcha code entry.

We are currently refining the process and updating SuperVote with relevant content drivers for So You Think You Can Dance as well as The X Factor USA. As refined versions emerge, we will continue to inform and lead the voting experience for reality-based television.
