Description
The Windsor Star is a daily newspaper focused primarily on delivering local news, while also covering top international news stories. It has recently undergone a bold design transformation, and in an effort to drive new digital and mobile recruits a campaign was launched to reassert the Star’s position as an Ontario news leader. We needed to bring the Star’s local editorial content to life, and to advertise the convenience of their new smartphone app.
The resulting message was simple: local news at your fingertips, where visuals were used to tell the story in favour of copy-intensive headlines. A localized point of view was necessary as we positioned news content as the central theme of the campaign. Thus we created large-scale “finger characters” to represent a city’s top news categories, while communicating that the news Windsor residents trust is just a finger swipe away.
