Background
Set against the backdrop of Ireland’s rental crisis, this commercial tells the story of a young couple who can’t afford to move out of their childhood bedrooms, building a new life together through WhatsApp. We wanted to create a brand film that recognised the difficulties facing young people in Ireland, yet still had a sense of magic and hope. Three’s network enables people be together even when they can’t, which is a powerful benefit when many are struggling to find a place where they can call their own.
Execution
Love and cheek encapsulate the tone of this film. Yes, it’s young love, but it’s got some spark and truth to it. As our film moves from texts to VO it embraces the playful and fun side of things, but isn’t afraid to keep it real in the moments in which their expectations are different. We embrace them, too. There is a real warmth to this spot. It heightens in the scenes as we move into their imagined future in a flat that they both wish for. The colours are rich – we were aiming for a beautiful and real vibe.
