Description

The Absa Cape Epic is one of the toughest MTB races on the planet. As the official technology partner of the race we wanted to use our connectivity solutions in a way that really made a difference to the riders. One of the biggest things they needed was support.

Using our world-class connection and cabling, we promoted our video conferencing and connectivity solutions in the middle of nowhere. We started by asking fans to leave personal messages of support online and then using a live video conference with legendary MTB World Cup Winner Rob Warner, we created a digital activation and interactive experience as he delivered support messages in realtime to the riders.

Execution

We decided to demonstrate our world class connectivity in the middle of nowhere where there is little to no signal. The media team created a digital billboard made out of multiple LED screens and used a live video conference, powered by an incredible wifi broadcast signal, with mountain bike legend Rob Warner. We used online banners, tv squeezebacks, a tv advert and online videos to get fans to leave their messages of support on our website - www.dimensiondata.com/epicsupport - which were then delivered by Rob Warner to the riders as they passed the screen in real time.

Outcome

By showcasing innovative and inspiring technology solutions, we changed our audiences perceptions through a product demonstration that proved that we're more than cables and software, we create solutions that empower people to connect which is a truly emotional concept - even in the middle of nowhere.
