Description

We took and posted on a social network the first ever free-fall selfie in order to launch the new LG smartphone model called G4 that has as its main feature the “quick selfie”. It allows the user to take a photo without pressing any button on the device. This activity would be impossible with any other device, since LG G4 is the only one to have the “quick selfie” technology.

With this activity, we were able to show that the “quick selfie” feature is so easy and practical that even a skydiver in a free fall was able to use it.

Execution

To promote the launch of the LG G4 smartphone with its exclusive “quick selfie” feature, we invited the professional skydiver Luigi Cani to take and post a selfie while in free fall using this exclusive LG smartphone technology.

Luigi jumped from a helicopter more than 8,000 feet high in Rio the Janeiro.

In a 200km/h free fall, the skydiver used the exclusive LG tool to take his selfie. After that, he posted this photo on his Facebook page before opening the parachute.

Only after he had posted the photo, he opened his parachute.

Outcome

With this activity, we managed to show that the exclusive LG technologies, such as the “quick selfie”, are developed to add value to the day-by-day of consumers and allow them to do their tasks in a simpler, faster, more efficient way. We transformed the demo of a product into content. The free-fall photo posted had more than 20 thousand likes in the first days alone, the video describing the activity reached over 25 thousand views in the first few hours, and there was a big repercussion on the country’s main communication outlets.
