State Farm wanted to capitalize on its sponsorship of the NCAA March Madness tournament. The belief was that if State Farm helped college hoops fans get more out of the tournament while integrating with State Farm’s “Gives You More” brand position, the fans could see how they can get more out of their insurance.Driven by ad placements on CBSSportsline.com and ESPN.com, fans are invited to State Farm’s March Madness Tournament Tools mini-site. Here they find an assortment tools that any basketball fan would love. The bobble-headed “Hoops Buddy” widget brings the action to the desktop with live game score feeds and customized team colors. The Magic Basketball has answers about the Tourney or life in general. The Office Hoops Challenge game lets you try out your cubicle-hoops skills, complete with a supply of crumpled paper. Rounding out the collection is an assortment of clever office signs and swag created to aid you in your escape to enjoy the game.
