Description
Osesp needed to communicate a spirit of boldness, innovation and modernity, to dismiss the common image associated with classical music: Old compositions, played in a neo-classical building, by people dressed in tailcoats. Posters would be displayed only at the foyer of Sala São Paulo (house of Osesp).
Execution
I decided not to use elements regularly connected to classical music, but musical elements that could be interpreted visually: rhythm, harmony, composition, group, pause, chromaticism, texture, tension, direction, dynamics, melody, order, disorder, parallels and many others. Anything could be used as long as it expressed some emotion connected to music. After the first pieces had been approved, we settled into a climate of trust. Almost 300 posters were produced.
Outcome
The posters have been ehxibited in varios countries and published by various design magazines.Also an ehxibition here in São Paulo just finished at April 11th 2010.
