Description
People don’t understand what makes a curved TV so unique. What they don’t realize is that they’ve been watching curved screens for years. Many movie screens are curved just enough to create an optimum viewing experience, a “sweet spot”, for watching video.
As opposed to other gimmicks and gadgets built into the TV experience, curved TVs create an actual benefit. With Samsung’s engineering and technology catching up to the ideas and theories behind creating the optimal viewing experience, we were faced with a challenge of upending expectations of what a screen should look like and how content should be enjoyed.
Execution
We inserted a curved digital screen into the cover of Log, the most popular tech magazine in Turkey. We cut out the shape of the new curved TV and placed a high-definition screen under the cover. We placed our modified magazines in 50 Samsung stores and the 15 most popular D&R Music and Book stores in Turkey so people could see how Samsung is changing how they consume media. Our specialized augmented reality app also paired with the Log issue to show a Samsung Curved UHD screen with perfect resolution when viewing it head-on in the “sweet spot”.
Outcome
With Samsung Curved UHD TVs in everyone’s hands, more and more people can see the value of the experience;
