Description

We diagnosed that PepsiCo’s staff, divided between three different offices in Sao Paulo, didn’t feel and work as one.

We had to make the employees look forward for the move as a more tight-knit community.

Email, intranet, memos… Nothing felt engaging.

So we created an app that would work as an internal PepsiCo social media channel. A light-hearted, pleasant place for employees to get informed about the move, where they take part in the conversation, interact with their peers and to feel attracted for engaging frequently.

And we would provide communication managers with a powerful X-Ray of the conversations, including AI, so they could identify internal influencers, most liked/hated content and measure the effectiveness of the internal campaigns through playful quizzes.

The whole app would be gamified, attracting users on a regular basis, as every interactionand and visit to the app would earn them points that could lead to prizes.

Execution

We developed PEPapp Dialog app, a light-hearted, pleasant and democratic place for employees to interact and chat about anything they want to, especially our move!

Users signed up to find out more about the move. Once there, they’d start to make their own questions through an interactive timeline, where managers kept conversations going with regular updates and the employees could comment, like/dislike and even create their own posts.

Specific quizzes with questions about the new office were a fun way to if the employees were getting the message right -- and which ones weren't, so PepsiCo could improve its communication.

Contant updates and gamified experience to keep people coming back.

A sentiment analysis through AI on all posts and comments let PepsiCo's managers have a quick overview on how their employees were feeling about the move.

Outcome

In only 2 days, more than 50% of the employees had signed up, totalling nearly 70% by the time they moved, and still growing.

The roughly 600 employees who signed up for the app produced:

- Over 17,500 interactions (likes, comments, posts) and have written;

- 1,700+ testimonials to their peers (3 per employee);

- 3,600+ participations in quizzes;

By the time they moved to the new building, many new relationships were already forged and we have breaked the cultural barrier between offices.
