A compelling title encouraged book browsers to flip through pages that were systematically and individually torn, marred, and stained; the content of the book told the stories of women helped by the services of the YWCA.The books were placed in the bookstores' “True Crime” and “Horror” sections. Potential donors could help themselves to complementary copies.
Outcome
$140,000 in new corporate donations to the YWCA of Calgary was raised and average single donations were increased by over 40%.
