The director grounded the food fantasy in realism, shooting in an observed style on long lenses. They cast actors who look achingly normal, then directed them to push their reactions into the surreal. The director chose practical effects wherever possible, from building an enormous toast slice, to puppeteering the head of the cheese-toastie man, to creating melted cheese with items found in your pantry. They then worked with the post house to enhance these practical elements with CG, ensuring that these breakfast hallucinations are utterly convincing. A choir singing “cheese toastie” provides the final absurd touch.

‘Drives You Cravey — Toastie’, centres around a man, who is stuck in traffic, who is hungry, very hungry… His day dreaming sees him imagining the world around him turning into delicious, cheesy, toasties. During his morning commute we see what happens when his cravings and imaginations run wild. From gooey cheese filled trucks, to toastie headed tradies, our driver is not satisfied until he pulls into his nearest Wildbean cafe.
