Description

With 80 million images, you can do practically anything. Now, if you consider the combinations that can be formed from them, the possibilities become infinite. To demonstrate the potential of combining all this variety, we reconstructed the most unique thing in the world: a human being. Not random people, but recognizable ones. And so, using thousands of noses, ears, eyes, mouths, eyebrows, and hairstyles from the Getty Images database, we recreated the famous faces of public figures from music, politics, and film, with the concept "80 million images. Endless combinations."

Execution

These impressive faces were constructed entirely using images available on the Getty Images website. It took 3 months of research and tests to arrive at the perfect result. Once the images were ready, we made a microsite and an online campaign where users could interact with the various faces. When users clicked on individual parts of the face, they’d be taken to the original image with the source of the closeup, on the Getty Images site – where they could buy it, if they wanted. To get the attention of high-profile advertising professionals, we took their Facebook profile pictures and reconstructed them using photos from the Getty Images database, using the same technique. We then sent them the reconstructions so they could share them, with an invitation to visit the campaign’s microsite.

Outcome

The campaign site saw 2,250 visits while it was live. The ads were shared by hundred of professionals. Several websites covering the marketing and advertising markets published about it. There was a 34% increase in users accessing the Getty Images site, and a 20% increase in image sales during the campaign. 90% of the advertising professionals who received reconstructed profile pictures shared them on social networks, bringing even more people to our site.
