Background

At the time of its airing, the cultural climate in America was one based on fear and distrust of its citizens towards their institutions, news sources, and technology.

Execution

“Fear is Everywhere” follows one man’s journey through his day-to-day life as the world unrelentingly pelts him with reason after reason to feel unsafe. From newscasters warning that, “what you don’t know about your garage door WILL kill you,” to technology that openly admits it’s listening to his wife’s every word, the man’s anxiety grows with each new assault. A snooping drone, fear mongering neighbors and a job-stealing robot each take their toll on his visibly fraying nerves. But just as the weight of his growing worries seem to be too much to bear, the man arrives home and engages his alarm system, which calmly responds with two comforting words: SimpliSafe on. Now at ease, the man joins his waiting family as we hear, “In a world full of fear, home is a place you should simply feel safe.”
