The objective of redesigning www.barclays.co.uk was to improve commercial effectiveness across a very broad diverse audience. In addition to the site redesign a more targeted ‘site marketing’ activity was implemented, resulting in an outstanding return.Results:Overall, www.barclays.co.uk has commercially doubled the revenue/saved costs that the site produces since its launch in October 2005. Online banking now contributes almost 10% of the total sales volume for the retail bank, a significant increase when compared with the pre-redesign site.
