Description

The challenges for the project would be the installation need to enhance the whole brand image and experience of the Nike Flyknit shoes product line. For the interactive pavilion, they hope they could hook up as much people as possible.

Execution

We created the installation with a room-length trampoline, a real-time playback screen and a 10 meters 15' curved LED wall. Making use of Microsoft Kinect camera for body movement tracking, and we use a mathematical algorithm to generate interactive visual. All these elements combined to shape a visionary digital installation design.

Installation is networked online and every jump will generate a unique "knit-style" portrait video which the generative algorithm is inspired by the Flyknit technology. It will then auto upload to the Nike game-on-world website. Finally, it will be available for sharing in social media platform like Weibo and Facebook.

Outcome

The installation created an interactive shoe trialing and interactive experience for the 185,000 sports enthusiasts who visited the grounds. Global superstars Lebron James, Rudy Gay, Amar’e Stoudemire, Eric Koston, Zhang Xi and Xue Chen, and entertainers Blackie Chen and Godfrey Gao were among the throngs who experienced the installation.

It brings out a new interactive experience for the participants in Shanghai. The installation transcribes their creative body movement into computer codes and impressive generative visual. They enjoy the moment that doing sport at the same time creating artworks. They also love to share their creations on the social media platform.
