GODSPEED BRANDING, Vilnius / LITHUANIAN CULTURE INSTITUTE / 2018
We used combining illustrations to tell real stories of the two nations that unite them. Each one of the 26 stories in this book has an alphabet letter assigned to it, which connects narrative and recipe. For example, letter B links the story The Bolingbroke Flag in Lithuania with the roasted peacock recipe. Different designers illustated the alphabet letters, which became an accompanying illustration conveying the tone of the story or even some plot elements. Different stylistics of their execution emphasised the diversity of stories, but the alphabet solution united them and established uniformity of publication’s design. We decided to use a timeline covering 600 years of connected history to help the reader follow the story and create even more harmony in the publication, while two contrasting types, a lighter one and a modern booklet grid, together with minimal graphic elements added contemporary tone to the publication.
