Execution
Taking advantage of the A Serie match Milan vs. Bari, on 13th March 2011 we decided to surprise the 60,000 fans at San Siro stadium when players ran onto the pitch: actually they weren't the real ones, but doubles quickly abandoning their warm-up ritual, performing instead unexpected and shocking actions like swimming, playing tennis, doing limbo and ballet, reading Gazzetta and calling on the phone; spectators could not believe their eyes. We were pretty sure to amaze people in the stadium, but our goal was also to create something visible even later and elsewhere.
Outcome
There are various videos where fans comment: ‘are they real players?’ or even ‘look, it's Gazzetta’. Some people are still wondering if those were real players or not. Reactions inside the stadium were incredible, even from the ‘hardcore’ supporters; the very same evening of the stunt, many mobile-made videos popped up on YouTube, and by today they have reached a total of over 6m views worldwide. Almost every major sport blog, newspaper, magazine and sports-related TV channel, from Sunday UK to Sky Sport has reviewed the event.
