Overview

Background

Along with the rapid increase in numbers of Chinese-speaking tourists visiting Japan in recent years, the numbers of these tourists visiting a stadium to watch Japanese pro baseball team Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters have increased more than ten times over the last three years. However, because most of these Chinese-speaking tourists don’t understand Japanese, they have not been able to enjoy the game 100%. But providing Chinese-language large screen coverage in the stadium would require a major investment in both time and money, and therefore has never been done. The Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters have wanted to provide Chinese-language flash updates targeting Chinese-speaking visitors only without diminishing the enjoyment of other spectators.

Execution

GLASS SHEET was used for the first time at a game played at the Sapporo Dome on September 22. The flash updates and player information translated into Chinese are transmitted to the smart glasses in real time through a wi-fi access point installed near the Sheet.
