Description
The Red Cross Argentina uses a great part of its budget collaborating in areas affected by natural disasters like floods, droughts, fires, severe snow falls, storms, etc.All these disasters, in great part, are the result of global warming. A good way to avoid them is raising awareness and informing people of its consequences, as well as explaining to them what needs to be done to collaborate. In short, we were asked to call people's attention at a low cost and in a different way so they could understand the problems that global warming is causing and see what they could do to resolve them.
Execution
An action was developed in one of the most important and tourist frequented parks of the city of Buenos Aires during the warmer days of our summer. It consisted of a man handing out leaflets with information about the natural disasters and their connection to global warming. But, different from any other person handing out leaflets, the body of this person was completely melted down and only his head, arms and part of his torso stood above ground level, so he handed out the leaflets from that position on the floor.
Outcome
The action was very successful among the people and was picked up by the press (papers, news and TV shows). Without a doubt they contributed increasing the magnitude of the action.
The leaflets that were handed out in Spanish and English totalled 15,000. They were given to people of all ages, sex, and economic levels and translated into 14,000 new visits to the site of the Red Cross Argentina and the amount of donations increased 9%.
