The campaign’s main insight was “we live under the laws of the criminals”, a very powerful statement that touched the nerves of Costa Ricans and those of their government. The insight tapped into people’s spontaneity that was now being eclipsed by the laws of fear. This message was caught by the media and began generating massive activism amongst citizens. The government had no choice and decided to sign the bring-back peace bill. Then, to involve the younger crowd, we invited national and international artists to donate their work to the bring-back peace cause. The art was uploaded to a website so that people could download the pieces. Finally, we inaugurated an exhibit about the stories of 15 victims who were murdered. This was an anthem to the value of life. The low value objects that triggered their murders were displayed in this exhibit.
