Description

Heineken’s latest spot in its Cities campaign, ’The Trailblazers’, encourages men around the world to step out of their comfort zones and have an open mind to take on new adventures. It features a group of friends heading out for the night and deciding, rather than going to their usual haunt, to try somewhere new. They unexpectedly travel to the world’s most extreme environments - from the summit of Mount Everest to outer Space – before stepping out onto a trendy rooftop bar. The group learns that being brave and open-minded pays back, as it leads to unforgettable experiences.

Execution

With six worlds in one commercial, the scale of CG and VFX craft is immense. Over 50% of the film is CG or VFX-heavy shots, from building two entirely CG ships to the impressive feat of turning a cast of 100 actors into a 10,000-strong Roman army. The VFX teams also crafted a CG spacecraft, including extreme close-up shots, and the epic sequence in which the group scale Mount Everest with a Himalayas backdrop. Add to that water simulations, explosions, atmosphere, and flying debris, and this film delivers Hollywood-inspired VFX storytelling on an extraordinary level, with global teams pulling it off in just 90 days.
