The casting focused on an authentic and believable play. Based on the importance of the father-son relationship, the connection between the two actors was essential for the credibility of the story. To bring out this relationship in the best possible way, the director wrote two letters. One from the father to the son and vice versa. The father writes about the current difficult times, the son about his insecurity during puberty. The actors' reaction to these letters then formed the basis for the casting decision.
