OVERVIEW

Background

In many countries where violence is a daily occurrence, the news is so violent that people often become desensitized to it. Mexico is no exception. Every day, we are bombarded with thousands of statistics related to violent incidents, and as a result, we tend to dehumanize these numbers, losing sight of the fact that they represent actual human lives.

Recognizing the gravity of this issue, the Non-Violence Foundation a non-profit organization founded by Yoko Ono has taken action. The solution involved creating a unique font that, for the first time, humanizes hard data, thereby restoring the value and significance of these lives.

Execution

The typography was handmade, focused on the 10 main groups that are affected and need to be seen, not just read on a daily media basis.

0. Children

1. Women

2. Members of the LGBTQ+ community

3. Elders

4. Indigenous Communities

5. Terminally ill people

6. Journalists

7. African American Community

8. People with intellectual disabilities

9. People with physical disabilities

These groups represent life and now they represent a community that needs to be heard.
