Description
This ad holds up a mirror to the absurdity of washing dishes by hand, in the shape of an ironic musical. It shows different people from across the world doing the dishes by hand, with a fake smile, while the song lyrics express the numerous niggles of this mundane, repetitive, annoying chore (three times a day until you're dead, scalding their hands in hot water, smelling stinky sponges...). The ad concludes with the inflation of a yellow rubber glove, the icon of hand washing, which progressively gets bigger and bigger. It finally bursts to awake the audience from this delusion and the camera quickly transitions through a dishwasher full of dirty dishes. The VO suggests to "Leave dishwashing to dishwashers", a person loads a plate, shuts the dishwasher door and carefreely leaves the kitchen whistling, safe in the knowledge that a dishwasher and Finish will take care of the chore.
