Background
Since 2000, cigarette ads are banned in Brazil. They don't appear on radios, outdoors, posters, magazines, newspapers or other medias anymore. For that reason, people are not used to see cigarettes ads. But to draw attention to the world plastic crisis, we hacked these ads by putting straws in the place of cigarettes. When the public saw the ads more precisely, they realized we were talking about the danger of plastic, not cigarette.
Execution
Our idea was to use a casting of normal people to bring reality to the photos and try to remake the same environment that the cigarettes ads.
