Background
Lebanon suffered one of the cruelest civil wars ever (1975-1990). Thousands of youngsters had joined militia in a war between brothers that resulted in 200,000 kills and wounds, and one fifth of a population displaced.
The youth of today are repeating the past's mistakes, and the elderly are infected with old militia tattoos that make them outcasts in their society, and they'd like to be rid of the past.
The objective is to close the doors on war and discrimination as well as free the old veterans from their past and mistakes, bring back the Civil War tragedy today and use it to share a strong message that invites the society to think in a united Lebanon. The initiative shares the veteran's regrets, helps them to find redemption and tells their stories to inspire the youth and avoid them from repeating the same mistakes.
Description
It starts with a short explanation about the Lebanes civil war between 1975 and 1990.
Then description from three veterans explaining how hard it is for them to move on and how they carry their old militia tattoos as wounds that they can't close.
Then we show how we covered their tattoos with the Inklusion symbol.
Execution
Inklusion is the result of over two months of hard work, from conceptualizing, finding the proper cast (many veterans were apprehensive to participate, even one of our cast members requested to have his face hidden), finding the proper place to shoot (in the ruins of a school, that was conquered by the civil war, on the war's no-man’s land between the Christian and Muslim areas, which was one of the most prominent arenas that the war took place), then starting conversations with LBCI (one of the main Lebanese channels), get them air it during the independence day, at prime time and as the center of discussion during 20 minutes of the show and the theme of the episode. The episode even included an interview to one of our veterans.
