In terms of noise pollution, three of the world’s top ten noisiest cities are from India. Here, life is lived at the highest decibel, and gives you no space to escape the chaos around you.

The visual depicts the cross-section of a human ear, into which the cacophony of the city traffic is trying to enter. The city traffic is the source of the noise - vendors screaming their wares, motorists yelling, rickshaws blaring their horns, road construction, the siren of a VIP car, a political rally with loudspeakers and sloganeering, elephants trumpeting, etc. - all contributing to the unimaginable decibel.

However, their path is blocked by a pianist playing the grand piano, which is firmly lodged in the canal of the ear, an analogy for the earphone which drowns out the outside noise, leaving you to listen to the music you cherish.

A top angle view was employed to bring alive the scale of the traffic. The semi-relief structure of the ear allowed it to blend as part of the landscape, a structure into which the crowd seemed to flow in naturally.

The construction of the crowd was carefully chosen to depict vehicles, people and animals one would normally find in every day Indian city traffic. The wares of the hawkers, the political rally, the kind of animals used, even the VIP car, are bothersome elements every urban commuter is familiar with.

The blockage using a grand piano is also significant, as this music instrument conveys a purity in sound, which should be listened to without any sound interference whatsoever.
