The brief was to create a world that felt familiar to the audience, but also felt like it could be lifted from the pages of a children's storybook. The color grading was crucial in bringing this world to life, enhancing the striking visuals and tying the different sequence 'chapters' of the film together.
The solution was to create a look that was slightly stylized but also felt authentic and familiar, so it was important to get the right balance between these two different styles. There are many different sequences, from roads being destroyed to bridges collapsing, so it was important to make sure each and every sequence, no matter how different, was tied together through the rich color palette.
