Description
The Encore tablet allows users to move seamlessly between working, playing and sharing on a single device. To drive recognition of its impressive capabilities, the creative takes consumers on an immersive and infinite journey through the four worlds of Encore functionality: film/music, productivity, connectivity and gaming. Each and every character and element represents an Encore function and viewers are invited to ‘Look closer. See more’.
Execution
We approached the project as if it were a mini film, working with a team of designers & concept artists to develop a series of intricate landscapes. Each one is inhabited by unique characters developed especially for the project, including an opera singing gorilla, multitasking, latte-sipping octopus and a football that kicks itself.
To create the sense of infinite travel into the image we used a technique called fractal zoom. This means controlling the ratio of the camera's speed to the scaling of the image planes. We were also keen to achieve a sense of surreality so we combined 3D animation with lush, dreamlike matte painting environments.
Co-director comments: 'Production for Look Closer, See More was totally different to any other job. There is a lot to see in this project and we needed to be sure to strike the balance between content and viewing speed. We hope audiences will find something new every time they watch it.'
