Description

We wanted to establish Marcella as the next in a pantheon of great detectives, as well as depict the drama to be a dark, modern and urban take on the typical police procedural.

To represent the character suffering from blackouts (a key part of the story arc), we used a glitch motif to show these gaps in time and the trauma that occurs in these moments.

The animated digital format allowed us to use a visual disruption technique to emphasize the character’s fugue states, which contribute to her fragile emotional state and ultimately drive the story arc.
