We custom created a medium and a unique McLobster experience on the number one guided tour destination in all three Maritime Provinces, Ambassadors Double Decker Hop on Hop off Bus Tours.
Excitement: Upon entry, passengers received a branded McLobster bib, identical to one they would receive at a traditional east coast lobster dinner. They knew something special was going to happen.
Educate: As part of the tour we created a special tour guide script featuring entertaining McLobster stories which were conveyed as buses toured through the city – just like regular tour guide information. The brand was endorsed as a part of local culture.
Experience: To complete the experience we created a tour bus stop enroute at a McDonald’s restaurant, putting those tourists within steps of the delicious McLobster sandwich they had been hearing about on the bus.
Outcome
Bringing the tourists to our doors really paid off. Total sales peaked at +4% in the region vs. 1 year ago, reversing a negative trend. But the true measure of success was that our flagship bus stop restaurants experienced an amazing 24% increase in McLobster sales and 12% lift in guest counts. A local morning TV show even featured the McLobster bus on a custom produced segment. Sadly, tourists arriving late in the season were out of luck - we were sold out of product 4 weeks faster than any other year!
