Description
We wanted to create an event with these matches and get people to subscribe to see them.
What better way than to give people a taste of the programming, to make them want to subscribe.
Execution
On the 8th of March 2017 Canal+ broadcast live and exclusively the Champions League football match Barcelona vs PSG.
Just after 9pm, viewers on a completely different channel C8, saw a part of the match live in the middle of a commercial break.
60 seconds of the match were broadcast live with the option for viewers to subscribe directly to Canal+ to see the end of the match.
A week later we did it again for AS Monaco vs Manchester City, the same idea with the added bonus of seeing Monaco score a goal live
Outcome
24 000 new subscriptions to Canal+
A record audience of 1.94 million for the matches (best record for Canal 2016-2017)
