Newspapers have almost always carried strip comics that millions of people turn to every day before getting to the real news. People are so used to the funnies as part of a paper’s every-day environment that cartoons can sometimes slip in under the consumers’ “ad filters”. Newspapers are also the home of big headlines and huge sprawling ads, which make the tiny, tucked away strips instantly intriguing.

Outcome

The small size of the ads (7.4cm x 2cm) is obviously a play on the names Micro Manager and Micro Chips, but while the scale is intrinsically linked to the concept, buying this kind of space is also inexpensive which makes the media budget go a very long way.
