Subaru’s EYESIGHT™ is an advanced driver assist technology that automatically detects obstacles and brings the car to a stop to avoid collisions. Produced as promotional items to reward dealer visits, the EYESIGHT-equipped mini-cars automatically stop when they encounter an obstacle. For this web movie, the mini-cars were fitted with micro-speakers that produce sounds while the cars are running. The sounds stop as the mini-car “performers” come to a stop one after the other. Then, as the cars all set off together, the sounds from the speakers combine to create a melody. This orchestrated performance of EYESIGHT-equipped mini-cars was created to inform about this new technology and encourage dealer visits.

The video was mentioned more than 400,000 times in articles, news coverage and social networks including Facebook and Twitter, in Japan and overseas. Numerous articles and postings such as “the EYESIGHT technology is amazing!” and “it’s the future of the automobile” focused on the impressive technology. The number of visitors to Subaru showrooms increased significantly and the focus on Subaru’s driver assist technology contributed to boosting brand power.
The video was viewed approximately 800,000 times on YouTube and received 2,400 “thumbs-up” (as of April 2013).
