Description
We installed projections showing the graffiti artists in action on more than 50 buildings and landmarks within Munich. All projected graffiti artworks were branded with the logos of MTV and Sony Ericsson. The projections looked so incredibly real that most people thought somebody was painting the town’s landmarks.
Execution
For several nights prior to the EMAs we projected previously produced films on over 50 Munich landmarks such as the minister president’s office, the victory gate, the Pinakothek, police stations and the Olympic tower. These films showed a graffiti artist spraying huge works of art. And he branded his artwork with the MTV and the Sony Ericsson logos!
Outcome
Overwhelming. Thousands of people stopped and stared open-mouthed. Some even thought the sprayer was real and called the police! Germany’s largest newspaper reported and films were uploaded on YouTube.
